CAA Members: Thank You!

As this most challenging year draws to a close, we at the Chicagoland Apartment Association want to  sincerely thank you for your continued membership and support.  2020 has been a year like no other as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the apartment industry to address serious public health issues along with an unparalleled economic crisis and record unemployment throughout our communities. 

CAA members are meeting the challenge by offering impacted residents grace, waiving late fees, and negotiating payment plans to help get us through this crisis.  We are so proud of the Essential Workers we recognized through the #CAAEssentialExcellence campaign who are on-site keeping apartment communities running smoothly and providing quality homes for millions throughout the Chicagoland region and state. 

Stay-At-Home orders and social distancing guidelines have precluded us from conducting popular in-person education and networking events.  With your support, we pivoted to offer virtual programming like Preview 2021 to facilitate sharing of best practices, deliver professional development, and keep members up to date on important legislative and regulatory developments.  We heightened our advocacy efforts, increased communications with elected officials, and helped develop state and local COVID-19 guidelines governing the apartment industry.  

We are advocating for changes to the eviction moratorium that allow for the removal of “ghost tenants,” and increased rent subsidies to replace lost revenues that threaten the viability of rental housing and exacerbate the affordability challenge.  And we continue execution of our SHAPE Illinois coalition strategy to defeat efforts to enact rent control, rent forgiveness and rent freezes.

We hope you agree that your CAA membership continues to provide exceptional value.  We have adjusted our business plan and enacted efficiencies to meet the times.  Recognizing the challenges our members face, there will be no dues increase in 2021.  And now, we need your support more than ever so we can continue the important work of advancing, educating, and advocating for you and the entire apartment industry.
